Conquer

I am confined to chains

Dragging me down as I try to rise

Condemned from achievement

Anxiously filled with apprehension

Strenuously aware of a heavy burden

Finances constricting the ability to breathe

Overwhelming the ache of having to withdraw

From aspirations and new beginnings

From a vision many thought wouldn’t be

I am rejected

Aid falling through the cracks

Uncannily slipping from my grasp

I am kicked harshly while already down

Spat in the face with an uncanny reality

I am hardworking

Stubborn in my goals

And I will rise.

I am a girl hoping to further her education

I am a girl…taking a chance

And I will conquer
