Conquering the Darkness
When the sky looks haunted and the night wreaks of death,
Where can one turn..?
These sleepless nights and restless days have truly put my faith to the test.
Every corner I pass, closes in
Trying to trap me in abominable sin,
Like a flow of water drowning my lungs,
A mother being torn from her long lost son.
All I wanna do is run.
To escape from the pain
To hide from the pouring, wailing rain,
Which is the falling pool of my mother's drenching tears,
Brought on by the passing, previous years.
But it’s inescapable.
Even in my nightmares, I’m suffering from the fear
Unable to fight, cringing away from my father’s stalker sneer.
His lying lips and deceitful ways,
The endless control that Mother irrationally craves.
His abusing hands threatening to end my last grip,
When I try to break free his choking vices bust my lip.
Whenever I burrow in a corner, away from His scary face,
He always knows how to find me in someway.
To push me past my limits
Treating me like a used toy expecting me to fix his rips.
I don’t need that abuse in my life!
But even the sharpest knife,
Can’t carve out His evil, overtaking spirit.
And the agonizing howls in my sleep I still hear it.
The whispers of the devil burning my eardrums, making ‘em bleed
To escape this evil seed of doubt
I hide from the sneers by running through the grout
All the while dreading the worse turn out
But as I run and the Demons evaporate with the turmoiled rain,
I see an angelic Man of Grace calling my name
“Renee, follow me, for I am your father from above,
And of all the world, for you I feel love.
I have seen your sorrow,
Tasted the salt of your tears.
Follow me now, and you will be of new life;
Through me, there can be an end to this strife.”
With a considerate heart and a sacrificial attitude,
I took the hands of this spiritual dove, overflowing gratitude
At first I thought there was nothing He could do to change my situation,
And then news flash; I’m with the king who conquered the nations.
With the weight of doubt officially off my shoulders,
I sailed the high seas at the late hours,
Surrounded in my boat by angelic soldiers.
And when the wailing yet began,
Tryin’ to seep past my tan,
The creepy crawlies of the night
Climbin’ up my skin.
Debaucherous goosebumps trying to make me their kin.
But with a triumphant cry,
I slashed a sword through Devil’s eye
So I left Him at bay as I sailed to shore
And ended the battle, with a mighty roar.
My name is Renee, and I’m a Lioness - a warrior;
A fighter for God and a willing survivor.
Don’t waste your life goin’ about with doubt.
Trust the Lord as your Savior and it’ll all work out.
So this tale I now end with the Beginning of the End.
Peace out my Brothers and Sisters,
TRUST in the Lord;
For NO weapon shall prevail against His two edged sword.
