Conscience
I leap,
Landing on the flowerbed below.
Pedals scurry,
Pollen sneezes,
And the grass tickles my feet.
I giggle a little and smile.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile.
A sun aloft in the sky,
The breeze slight.
I drop to my bum.
A hard thud.
I giggle once more and smile.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows
My fingers graze the sleekness of a white pedal
The flower shudders beneath me, yet strongly holds
I look at the widening sky and see a freedom hidden along it.
I giggle once more and smile again,
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows after wishing
The closer I gaze, I see the shapes, the animals, the trees, the wind.
The everlasting peace dropped in the atmosphere surrounding.
I giggle and smile once again, ever widening.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows after wishing for
But the thunder clouds roll in and there comes a soft drizzle.
I giggle quietly,
I smile just slightly.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows after wishing for that life
I giggle just slightly.
The smile barely there.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows after wishing for that life no longer here.
It’s a soft feeling, a soft smile that follows after wishing for that life no longer here,
I whisper,
Into the storming wind.
