Consequences

Ever since I was little, my Daddy would tell me

'Actions have consequences' and

'What you sow now, you reap later' .

I never really understood these, until now.

Until now that I've done something so stupid

That I graze my knees as I rip out the weeds that I have so carelessly planted

Just as they are about to burst from the ground.

I'm begging, gasping for the air but not wanting to breathe

Not wanting to live to see these sprout around me.

I regret what I've done, I'm regretting what I'm doing

I never thought of the consequences to this.

Listen, I just wanted to fill the empty void that was being created

You had gone, and I needed something to fill the space

Something here, something close

Pull me in and swallow me whole

Do what you have to do.

I am happy in the now, I can live this lie

Let the consequences be the reason I die.
