The Constant

This world taught me that love is bitter,

Yet forever I shall march,

Because I will never be labeled a quitter.

I know it seems like change is all that's left,

I don't know what to do,

When this whole life just feels like a test.

I need something to stay in its place,

It seems like hardship is all I face,I need something that I cannot replace.

The lights of yesterday are still burning bright,

Maybe there is a way to walk through this light,

Behind every corner is a brand new plight.

I need a constant to prevent me from crossing that line,

To be competely honest the fault is mine,

If there is hope out there, I need a sign.

Can you be the constant,

That teaches me to breathe again?

Because we all need a constant,

To hold us when we cannot make amends.

You can be the thing to help me through,

You are the constant,

Despite it all I still believe in you.

You are the one who gives me strength in the dark,

You are the constant,

The thing that can save me when I'm falling apart.
