Consume me.

i had no reason to doubt,

for you were the ocean blue,

            like a river,

                        I ran to you.

and I would

wiser none the less,

you were my only virtue,

            and I was virtually yours.

and I would have

somebody claim me, take me home

to the ends of the earth for you

            if you asked

and I would have let you

perhaps we weren’t meant to last

hanging on for dear life,

we held on so tight

and I would have let you

let it go, down the current

exhausted beyond repair

            bring me home.

and I would have let you

all my ghosts know too well,

all the bridges burnt,

ashen and black

and I would have let you leave

not a second glance

this home up in flames

and I would have let you leave

these walls held the disease

 before we caught it

and I would have let you leave

you’ll never understand

but try and follow if you can

I would have let you leave

I would have let you leave

I would have let you

I would have

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they leave you.
