Consumed

I'm angry: at me, at them, at life

Lost: in my mind, in the world, in the dark with no light

Broken: not outside, in my heart, behind the facade

Why: the injustice, the racism, the abortions, the guns, the hurt

Pure, an innocent baby grows only to be torn apart by the world

Once we see the rainbows that are only our imagination, we return to the fetal curl

The stares across the hall turn to glares you can't control

Accused of so much as just being, seeking anyone, anything to console

The anger at being misjudged for what you look like, what you're not.

You sit in a roomful of people but still feel so alone

They all scream you wish they could control their tone

Wishing you meant more than the details of their phones

Never let anyone see you break, vulnerability isn't a trait

You caution your heart from feeling all this, it's all bait

To reel you in and end up devouring you, restraint

It's something you never thought you'd need this late

Wearing your feelings on your sleeve got you nowhere, you hate the hate

That brought you nothing, no hugs, no love, just tears and "It's fate."
