a consumer's reflection on blindness
Clicking together in a sealed plastic bag
darkness shrouds us
in dishonesty and truth -- we are the same
but the hand that plucked us
off the shelf and
squeezed us ‘round the middle
plopped us on a conveyer belt
and bought all our sweetness for itself
ripped open the bag and
let in the light
that highlighted the true blue
shells and violent reds
differences, flaws
made us click louder in agitation
as we poured out of the plastic
and into the open hands from
the open tear in a broken bag
and we are separate in our togetherness
color contrasts color
in the bright of a too big world
in the dark mouth of those hands
colors melt away
behind sealed lips
we are the same
