Contentment with a Future Unknown

Upon waking up today, I had a sweet reminisce of yesterday And imagined what will happen tomorrow, Hoping it will last forever And wishing its end will never Come, continuing on for always. I used to awake thinking always That the troubles of today Would persist, and would never Improve from the problems of yesterday. There I would dwell forever, Throughout every tomorrow. Thankfully, I’ve learned that every tomorrow Can have a fresh hope and always Presents a chance for a new forever. The things we do today Do not need to be a result of yesterday; In fact, they may never Have a result again, never Disrupting the plans for tomorrow- Plans that the memory of yesterday Had lied about, with promises of an always That will come on the dawn of today, Continuing on as your one and only forever. When in truth, your forever Is something that can never Be decided upon today, But will change with every tomorrow, And with your power can always Conquer the obstacles of yesterday. But you may wish your yesterday, One free of obstacles, would last forever, And you could be free, always Joyous and never Worrying about tomorrow, Living solely in the pleasantry of today. Sadly, we cannot always have blissful yesterdays That affect today and last forever. You can never have the same tomorrow.

This is a sestina poem, expressing how I have come to peace with how ambiguous the future may be. Content in knowing that everyday will be a new adventure.
