Contradiction

Once one has been betrayed by the spoken word Their promised trust broken and thrown They that are wise turn to the written word Where no thoughts are denied Where secrets kept are wrapped and cryptic The amount you share and give is all in the phrase of choice A poet can paint a picture with no brushes An ugly world captured by lovely speech A poem can have a dozen meanings And only a half a dozen words Today slur and slang fly high above any message So there is artistry Where one with delicate thought transforms the known Into something we might never really understand
