A Contradictory Creature
Often I find in myself
Exhibiting opposite traits
Who I am changes by the moment
How I act depends on the situation
When I analyze myself
I find that I am insecure
While still feeling like I will somehow succeed
I enjoy the happiness in small moments
And the pride after big ones
I love immersing myself in other worlds
Fiction shapes my fantasies and my facts
Laughter is my favorite sound, but often all I hear is echoes of doubt
I find ugly parts of my soul and the emotions I keep tucked away
I find anger and sadness juxtaposed with curiosity and joy
I contradict myself, but I must stay true
To all the parts of myself
And to continue to grow upon who I am
I am who I am
But do I like myself?
