Contrasted

The girl who knows everything in math

And everyone asks for help in class

Hates herself for whatever reason

Shooting herself down and she knows it

That girl who’s in sports and really popular too

Who secretly dated in middle school

But she’s having a hard time at home

Just wants some love so she won’t feel so alone

I wake up before the sun’s rise

Ice cold wind greets me in the dark sky

I’m so tired I can’t open my eyes

But why? Why the high price?

We work so hard to be recognized

Each with our own ways to shine

I don’t know why the brightest smiles

Can conceal the darkest lives.
