Control

Why does anyone write?

To express feelings?

To put emotions on paper?

To take creative licence on a world we don't actually control?

I write because it gives ma an unexplainable sense of satisfaction.

Like when I put the words on the paper,

I'm finally in control,

I run the show,

I

am

a

god.

Maybe this is just my way of living out my life via proxy,

Maybe I'm not the only one that handles things this way.

I don't write poems and short stories the get rich or even just published,

I do it so that I can be at peace, and keep myslef sane.

Maybe this is just some form of compensation,

Maybe I use it to make myself seem smarter than I am,

Or at peace with the world and our rather unstable nation,

Or just for my own sanity's sake, before I blow the dam.

I'm sure that many have written this poem,

In stanzas, in phrases, and paragraph form.

We all do in highschool for our english teachers,

One small assignment can turn us all into preachers;

About how we should be motivated,

Or how we should write.

And we hold all others in the blaze of our righteousness,

until they see the light.

I know the question,

I've heard it before,

I've asked it myself,

As I lie on the floor.

I write because I can,

It gices me the power,

To brreak out of this simple rhyme scheme,

That now Occupies the center of the page.

I write because I enjoy it,

And becuase it's simple,

To take creative licence,

And do so I wil.

Why do I write?

So simple a question.

So complex an answer,

for this page could be one in a million.
