Control Kid

Today I was asked What life was to me A series of events Or one glorious scene I said I can’t tell you And man you must see I’ve got too many years left To know who I’ll be So he said That’s what I thought When I took to the streets Dozens of addicts Would bow at my feet But once I was busted And spent time in jail I sank to my knees And I knew I had failed So know who you are kid And choose who you’ll be Cause I know you’ll go far kid If you don’t follow me Today I was asked “Are you really alive?” Am I running the show Do I barely survive? I said I can’t tell you But girl please know I’ve got decades to live So I’ll let time show So she said That’s what I thought When I took to the pills For the fear and depression I thought they would kill But once I was lying In that hospital bed Tears rushed through my eyes Cause the old me was dead So just take control kid Of the promise I see I know you’ll go far kid If you don’t follow me Today I was asked Are you ready to live? And I said I know who I am man I know who I’ll be And I’ll take control girl I’ll finally be me
