The Cooing Dove

Is he the greatest one of all?

He sails from day to day

He stands so tall it makes me small

I wished he’d go away

He sailed to land stretched far away

To find himself a love

She’d sit so nicely by his side

And coo just like a dove

He searched and wooed to gain her love

A thousand men to waste

The others who fought for her love

His mighty sword did taste

Oh joy returned when he came home

His dove right by his side

Through narrow eyes I saw them land

Brought with the rising tide

But no parade or joyous cheer

Will greet the happy pair

For I’m the one that needs a dove

She will be mine I swear!
