Cookie Dough

There have always been cookies,

Cakes, pies, or pastries.

Our counter is never empty

Because her mind's recipe book

Is full to bursting.

Dad, brother, sister, and I,

We indulged till our

Sweet teeth bit back,

But mom kept baking.

Hoping something would come of that.

And while she carried

College essays, back pain,

And a loud five year old,

That something was a

Business rising in the oven

My mom inspires me.

My mom can turn cookies

Into dough.
