I put my heart into things like reaching as deep as I can into a cookie jar. Hopeful. Ready to grasp a sweet and satisfying treat. And in getting a hold, I eat. I indulge myself in this delicious love that I once hoped for. Now it is gone. Gobbled up by my own appetites that took over. My mouth still tastes of the luciousness and I want more. I reach back into the jar. The cookies have ran out. Just like he did when I asked for too much. I took too much and he owas unable to restock. All his goods were spent, unable to offer further satisfaction. Finished, done, complete. Now my heart is a shopper, wandering the aisles of my options, searching for the lost delights and happiness you once brought me. But in learning I need better, I walk. Continuously yearning for a more reliable source of energy. Something not only delicious, but sustainable, to nourish me to health and fill the void. That emptiness that now lies in my cookie jar.
