The Corner

I never told anyone about the day i saw her. Yeah, she was standing in a crowd crowned with fear on the corner of betrayed by and love. she was going over her suicidal love letter when i caught her somewhere between a and men and was afraid of what a man like me could offer... Cause she looked like she's been through a lot. She looked like the worst of a hangover standing beneath rain clouds that hungover her head like a busted halo with wings that hung off her back but were held together by sin's pin and over her shoulder, were yesterday's heartaches. i walked up to her and before even catching her name, she looked me in the eyes and cracked a half hearted smile that broke like dawn. her smile told me, that she puts all her trust into things that break to easy, like, people. She welcomely told me she was the off spring of a drunk night and no condom and a product of everything she wasn't. She said that she once held on to love, but sold it all for a pair of shoes and a chance to feel welcomed. She said it was like trying to hold water in your hands. she said that since day one she has been carrying her own cross to the moon and back and across fields of lilies to a lake a fire and brimstone past Gethsemane all the way up to Calvary. she said some days, she feels like Judas. but i cant compare to that. cause, my life....hasnt been that bad. I can tell, that she is a perfectly broken lullaby living in a glass house seeking refuge in the shadows of stones casted by ordinary men that will never know what it is like to feel whole. i can tell that she has had rough yall, that she has been mislead by my men who take what they want and leave behind what they dont. and i feel like she has been told i love you time and time again but this time, time is running thin. and i feel like i am competing against god to win this girl over and that i need to tell her something like even though you may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you shall fear no evil, for he is with you. but something in my mind tells me that that ones been used before. i feel like she is the last breath of innocence taken from the lungs of mother Mary before she birthed a miracle, and little did she know, that she too could change the world if she would just open up and speak a little louder than the one voice crying in the wilderness. yall i feel like i need to set her free from her own self pity that has kept her pitting wits against what she wants to be and what she is. that keeps her in between exhales of redemption. i can tell that her spirit is willing but she herself is weak, because she has never had the chance to speak up. but i stand here, completely oblivious to the eye of the storm i just stared into. completely dependent on my own independence and irresponsibility as i watch her walk farther and farther away. just before she steps outside the point of hearing i muster up enough of myself to let her know, that the suns gonna shine tomorrow. just keep your head up.
