the corps

Dear, United States Marine Corps,

I screamed at the top of my lungs YES MA'AM

day in and day out just to please you

I pushed myself until I threw up on a daily basis

just to make it to basic.

exceeded my goals and went above your standards

in attempt to become one of the few

while in training I became a disgusting recruit.

and loved every minute of it.

learning drill,

marching to the cadence,

eating chow,

making the racks,

doing rifle watch,

everything you wanted,

gave you my all- my heart and soul.

but with the title just within reach,

senior drill instructor.

crore-men.

you shattered my heart.

worst heartache I've ever felt.

you threw me on a bus back home.

to be long forgotten.

you may not want me

but I will be back

continuing to train I will do whatever it takes

to prove to you that I am able.

that a Marine is something I can be.

please.
