Corruption

Close your eyes

Music bumping from the joint down the street

My eyes jump open

This is something serious I think I'm feeling the beat

Throwing on my overalls Like somebody from the juice scene

Busting out the door Stepping slight into the party

80's soul in the 2000's They don't think I belong

Im jigging and jiving real slow They know my vibe is strong

I see somebody staring from afar

So out of this world

We leave the club hand in hand

Everybody jocking Barely able to walk

Shiiii Barely able to stand

Wilding out like Where the wild things are

We're all just party animals Everything in Life can go so far

Back to my apartment where art is the conversation

Talking about the world

Mankind born different nowadays

Man-stration

Full of Frustration

Talking about how your father wasn't much

Spent ya life missing your X chromosome influence

Spent time burning bridges and losing trust

Ya mother used to work late nights

Ya old lady growing old

Now shes Sipping air like metal turning rust

I understand we're both kids still looking for lust

Looking for fun but still expecting trust

Bare with me I was Born in the wrong generation

Patience is virtue

Best believe Words that sound good are a must

And as we lay down Hatred clouds my view Speaking of true

Baby boy laid at the church's steps

18 years later always in trouble

Only three choices Go to jail, die or run to MEPS

Sold his soul to the government Beautiful weapon on his waist Brass fully loaded

They don't care what happens once your out

Corruption was their intent

He Won't be controlled

Rockets and missiles whistle in his nightmares

He Spends his life in a battle with PTSD

What's different about this and the kid who can't read

Kids bully him because he's trying to be something he can't be

The world is blind We can't see

The poor alcoholic is dying He can't breath

Abusive boyfriend use to beat on her Now he's her husband

And now their kids can see

The transgender kid crying in the faculty bathroom

Because others don't understand

So now she's in her room belt around her neck

Only thing really supporting her is her wooden art stand

The pothead boy can't seem change his ways

Out on the streets

Wishing for comfort

Praying for better days

Somebody help me please

Our world is drowning

This is a cry and a plead

Kids bully the special needs because they battle inner demons themselves

They struggle just as much

Nobody sees

So they keep quiet and hang their problems on the shelves

Kids see drugs on the streets like how I use to see animals in a zoo

And no matter how much we pretend it isn't

We all know that it's the truth

Babies having babies

The figure on the couch says I'm talking out the side of my neck

"Hold on I promise you I'm not talking crazy"

Pregnant at 16 Boyfriend is a dead beat or shot dead

Thinking how are you going to take care of this child on your own

Your kid has no father Your entire world is a dead end

What about the guy who is a single father a good man

Ex wife is on crack

His kids don't have a mother

No attention paid to the fathers on the right track

Praying to a God you stopped having faith in long ago

Protest Yelling black lives matter with your pick in your hand

Closed minded War spelled out with your fro

They don't stop

They never will

They cry all day

They don't feel

White on black is crime

Black on white is reality

Black on black is normal

White on white apparently doesn't even exist you see

Immigrants are not all illegal

They are still people just like you and me

Ignorance of a human race

Ignorance thinking that we are the only ones in trouble

The real world is going to laugh in your face

Life doesn't care about a fumble

You think forbidden fruit is easy to come by

In your lifetime you'll probably never even get a taste

Of the real stuff Shout out to the peeps who just don't give a blasted one

Sarcasm fills my throat

They don't call it Adam's apple for no reason

Turn to the clock and Saturday night is now Sunday Morning

Baby please bare with me

I don't want to be another statistic

The pain is piercing

If I'm getting stabbed in the back

The vest is no longer effective because it's no longer ballistic

Soft kiss placed upon my forehead

The figure leaves the door never to be seen again

Never gave me a chance to show you

I guess corruption is how we function

And revolution is resolution

Evolution in Closed-minded Conclusion

Choosing means losing

Dropped to my knees Praying to a God who will listen

Dear God I need religion

Just Something to believe in

I don't know if this is the world I want to start a family in

Help me be the change in the world that I need to see

God help me show others what they're not supposed to be

They fight for themselves Selfish person season

Do they know they're a voice without reason

In a world of 7 billion where I still feel alone

In a state where society wants me suffocate

Or give in and be its drone

Instead of crying about how the world isn't perfect

Let's stop dying and make life all worth it

Crying about how life isn't fair

Explain to these kids that one of their friends is getting abused upstairs

Out the street

Kids worrying about their next meal

What if it was you who couldn't eat

Justification for the end

In you I'm looking for a father and a trustworthy friend

Open my eyes before the prayer was even over

I know I don't have much but I feel alive

Thank you Heavenly Father

Now Amen
