Cost of Clarity
I see everything too clearly.
Their joy feels like a performance.
I try to speak, but my voice shatters their solace.
No one looks; no one feels it break.
They touch each other like it means something.
I watch from a place where the skin used to be.
Everything I’ve learned has cost me the warmth of not knowing.
I’ve opened my eyes too wide.
Now I live where others flinch.
They speak in comforts.
I speak in truths that ruin them.
So I stay silent.
And alone.

Your Poem's Voice
Abstract philosophical alienation tempered by personal emotional experience and isolation.
Dense stacking of psychological observations; multiple ideas per line.
Deeply negative: alienation, isolation, loss, painful awareness, exclusion.
Tense, fractured language with sharp declaratives; restrained but psychologically volatile.
Approximately 13 lines; falls in 7-15 range.
Strong metaphors (skin, warmth, flinch); simile (like it means something); personification.
Pure lyric internal voice; intensely first-person subjective consciousness throughout.
