The cost of living rises, but death remains affordable

He sits in the corner

Holding the place where his heart once was

A rock sits in his chest

Where the organ once dwelled

He shakes and shivers

He is not well

His face is dull

As dull as the heart that refuses to pump

There are knocks

Knob rattles go unheard

He is tired

The cost of living continues to rise

He had the easy way out;

Death remained affordable
