I came to life to dream

to beam, to seem

to have a purpose.

I came to life to reap

not sleep, not keep

my pride holding me back.

For my job is to be under

the hunter of clothes.

A shallow job to you

a hallowed job to me

I came to life to sew

to make other grow

into someone we don't know.

I came to life to say

that may

be theatre has a

non-de-

meaning

perhaps teeming

with dreaming.

Leoma

Lucy writes for herself because she is a selfish poet, but she sometimes stretches a bit and includes others, too. She is a senior in highschool in Chico, California, has won poetry contests in the local newspaper multiple times, and has had her poetry published in her school's poetry anthology multiple times. She hopes to use her poetry to inspire other selfish poets and keep herself sane.
