The Count Down

Adrenaline surging through me, my veins pumping iron like an engine, the anticipation alreay started to glow on my skin, we haven't left yet. Step by step they instruct us on what we had to do when the time came, all strapped into our harnesses, we waited and waited, for what seemed like an eternity, but...the time finally arrived. As we started moving, everything becam still, the humming grew louder and louder, and i tried ever so diligently to listen. As we approached the door which was agape and awaiting our arrival, the climax of our journey started to form, before we could even take a breath. As we began the takeoff of what was to be the greatest phenomenon of my life, 10 thousand feet up, i realized my life hung in the balance of a simple object, sometimes prone to failure. I hesitantly turned around to be, strapped into the only source of life support, no longer nervous. There was no count down, hands tucked, shoulders in, head back, and we were off, sent swirling into the sky. You are truly alive when you are so close to death, with the illusion of stillness, i looked upon the largest landscape portrait you could imagine. 30 seconds later, it was all over, and i was back on the ground, where it all started, just waiting for the moment, to do it all over again.
