Count It All Joy
I can’t do this anymore…
I’m only making you sad…
I feel like we moved to fast…
But we don’t have to lose ALL that we had.
Why did he say that?
Hadn’t we grown close?
We did so much together
More than I did with most
Should I call to explain myself?
Should I beg, should I plead?
Can someone else help me?
Just tell me…, do I get on my knees?
Maybe if he sees me cry
…yeah that’s what I’ll do
He’ll feel really sorry
It might make him feel like a fool.
No! I won’t cry,
Besides, it’s useless
But the pain is excruciating
I really have to get through this
I’ll give him his space
That’s what he asked
It won’t take away the hurt
But the friendship will last
We’ll talk from time to time
Maybe still hang out a bit
That way he won’t feel pressured
Like I’m forcing him to commit
Oh well… enough of that
Time to focus on me
Tell me again…How do I pick myself up
From all my misery
Go ahead…I’m listening,
I’ll open my mind so I can focus
You say count it all joy
Wait! I’m not understanding this
Let me repeat what you’ve said
So I can hear myself speak it
Saying it out loud
Could help me receive it
Through all my trials and tribulations
God is my comfort; God is my peace
I should thank Him for this heartache
He allowed it for me
In my darkest hours full of hurt
I could cry out for Him
For He would come close when I called
He would draw me near
He would wrap His loving arms around me
Then the stillness I could feel
My tears would go away
My heart would begin to heal
Wow…I’m starting to understand
It shouldn’t have to hit me like a ton of bricks
The course of action I must take
Is to just draw closer to Him
Closer to Him everyday
And not just in my pain
But when things are going well
He wants me near just the same
Count it all joy…huh? I like how that sounds
It’s time I acknowledge and say
I must change the way I’m living
Starting with today
