Cousins

She sat in her chair with her neck tilted

Her eyes were pressed with inquiry

in anger compressed

Cousin and brother screamed with rage

You can’t just sit there staring into space

they implored,

You must respond you must connect,

Brother paced up and down the room

Rage welled up in his rib cage

Cousin sat by the door

her eyes racing now to him now to his sister

Threesome locked in time of pain from rage and sorrow

No one there to save them

Two think they will save her

She gave up long ago

What they were taught has drifted to the ocean of memory

What they were groomed for has become a mirage in the soul
