Cover Up

Smile and nobody will know

Make sure the lines don’t show

Cover them up, and be the leader

Every day they seem to grow

Knowing that they will get deeper

Knowing they won’t leave her

Her demons not going away

Feeling nobody will redeem her

Hoping that she can find a different way

Praying to go far away

She writes in ink her last reflection

Hoping these last memories will go astray

After the last incision

She wonders if this is the right decision

Folding the last of the paper

Will this be the end of her prision
