Covered In Dew

It was in the dawn covered in dew
That we begin our journey true
We had no haste, no time to waste
Our lives had changed years before, husbands taken by the war
We sit here now with all that's left
To sisters pushed by greatest theft
Empty hearts, empty pockets
Yet somehow our dues rocket
The days passed quickly, left us old
All alone in winter's cold
We had no more lives left to live, no more ideas left to give
In the night he came to us dressed in shadow, frigid as the air, and he himself old as dust
But fair as the coming spring, both curious at what he would bring
He reached out his hands and we both knew his purpose
Rose, and took our escort's hand
Walking out into the cold, no need for a final stands
It was in the dawn covered in dew they found our bodies, this story true
