COVID-19

My top four basic needs are; oxygen, water,

Food and telling people what my heart reads

So, one day I'll tell my daughter

One day I'll tell my daughter how I once promised to tell her what I'll tell her when that time comes

One day, I'll tell my daughter

I'll tell her everything

I'll tell her about the first thing I experienced that was beyond powers of man

I'll tell her about cold hands of fear that hugged us all

I'll tell her about the pain that paid us a visit in silence

I'll tell her about how our souls drowned in despair

I'll tell her about what birthed all these

One day I'll tell her about Covid-19

One day I'll tell my daughter

I'll tell her how the virus came with repercussions

I'll tell her how my mothers were spunked and defiled

I'll tell her how my brothers' clothes were taken off their bodies in my mothers' presence

I'll tell her how I felt the helplessness in my mothers' voices when they spoke

I'll tell her about how we forgot our African cultures

One day I'll tell my daughter

I'll tell her about the Police training institutions

I'll tell her how they educate police on how to hate

I'll tell her how hard it is to picture a police as a relative or a friend

I'll tell her how a police don't understand humanity as a virtue

I'll tell her how a police treat their people like aliens

I must tell her

One day I'll tell my daughter, about my country

I'll tell her about the economic distinction

I'll tell her about social distinction

I'll tell her about class distinction

I'll tell her about tribal distinction

I'll tell her about religious distinction

I'll tell her about everything

One day I'll tell my daughter

I'll tell her how this division made poverty swallow the less privileged

I'll tell her how thirst for daily bread made the govt to use police as a whip of silencing us

I'll tell her how we are like  a plague to our govt

Telling people what my heart reads is a basic need

I will tell her when time comes.
