cranes

there's still magic left on the earth

there's still magic left in her hands

in the flutter of paper

as it whispers soothing comforts

to her charred flesh.

there's still magic left on the earth,

she likes to believe,

when her hands can't fold anymore

and the crane falls to the floor.

there's still magic left on the earth,

but not enough to save sadako.

the cranes carry her to a better place, another time,

where she goes to school with her friends,

laughs in the afternoon sun,

lives a world without pain.

there's still magic left on the earth.
