Crash then Rise

We accept the love we think we deserve

And then we punish ourselves when it doesn't work out.

Our expectations take hold and tower over us until we see too high

And then it all tumbles down from ritz to rubble.

When things don't work out, we believe in failure

more than ever before, and then we crash.

The pressure to be perfect screams into our brains

and fills our mind with standards that can never be met.

The torture of not being loved enough because we cry too loud

and ask too much,

has consumed our freedom days.

Although we are loved by someone,

we negate that fact with hate for ourselves

But...

Somehow we always manage to get up and continue.

We learn to not stack our expectations too high.

We believe in failure but we also believe in hope.

We understand that life is one giant lesson to be learned.

And we will make it through,

holding our dignity high above our heads,

and our hearts full of strength.
