Crazy, Stupid Love

My fingers lay on the wheel

Silent and stammering all at once

Watching as the droplets coating my windshield serves as a rain reel

Wondering why I let you in.

I’ve been bitter

I’ve been blue

And things have been difficult

Since I lost you.

When the sidewalk ended,

And the streets gazed back at me with greedy fingers

It was through your love lended

That my sense of self had still lingered.

Why I left you

I’m still not entirely sure

With full candor I say I miss you

But I have little left that could serve as a lure.

I know you love me still

But I can’t vocalize my own feelings

For you deserve to move on with someone wonderful

And I am not that.
