Creation
I am a fallen star that was cast down from the heavens. The Sun and Moon look at me with pity and pain; as they reach to place me back among my shiny cluster we are separated and the heavens are no longer in my view. Upon the barren ground I wander among the brush; rocks as sharp as knives cut into my feet and in the dust my tracks are forever remembered. I stand upon a ledge over looking jagged cliffs and ringed canyons; I feel water forming on my cheeks and watch each drop form swirling rivers. Plants spring up from cracks and break apart the dry land, spreading their roots until they are intertwined. A single red rose blooms from a bush, I reach down to admire its beauty and its thorns prick me. Blood drops hit the hard ground and soak through to the core, roses the color of a deep scarlet river, spring up from the places where my blood has disappeared. The sun is high over looking my work and at the same time keeping me company. In a vast wasteland that stretches as far as my eyes can see I sit down to think. Sweat rolls down from my brow and hits the ground with a steady patter. More sweat pops from my pores and rolls down to my toes. Tired from sitting I rise and continue my trek. With each step I take pools of water form beneath my feet, before I am able to reach the end of the valley I am swept away by waves of a rolling ocean. The spray of water over me is cool and I can smell salt in the air. I am rushed past nothingness until the water delivers me upon dry land. I look back at the distance that I've come this far and see deep ocean waves rising and falling, it fills the vast open spaces, where before was nothing. I fall to my knees weary from my journey and as I lay my head down grass sprouts beneath and around me as a mattress and pillow. Before drifting off to sleep I whisper good-bye to my Sun and watch as he is replaced by a soothing darkness, which is sprinkled with tiny stars to watch me as I sleep.
