The Creature
Her tears were a clear as broken glass
Her pain as thick as crimson blood
Years of thoughts hidden behind walls of safety
Safety coming with tally marked legs
She hides behind walls of numb
Behind laughs and jokes and a knowledgeable tongue
Seemingly immune to her own reality
Happy for causing another smile
Screaming ad yelling, she wasn’t a monster
Yet a monster was what she had become
Slowly but surely her seed was planted
Roots growing at a rapid pace
Her charcoal burnt tree shadowing every smile
Every smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes
Through every action thought and word
A creature haunted and twisted her with sickening pain
She selfishly cried wanting it all to end
Another thought, a spark, the end was near
She would sow the seed she planted in her mind
A mind cluttered with blood stained glass
She climbed her shadows to the top of the tree
The creature smiled up proudly
Balancing carefully on the highest rim the girl teetered carefully
Smiling back at the creature she gracefully plummeted towards the ground
And with that the monster was gone
Along with the creature inside her mind
