Credence.

What is the one thing
That I can't live without?
If you asked me back then
I'd probably say brussel sprouts.

But, I was only a kid
Who didn't really know much.
Most of my knowledge
Involved vegetables and double dutch.

And, now I've reached adolescence
So, my brain is more mature.
Although sometimes I'm asked this question
I am still a bit unsure.

But, I've practiced my answer
For when this question arose again
And instead of saying food or water,
I'd point to my skin.

I'd say credence is the one thing
That keeps me alive each day.
All insecurity can do
Is turn my life dark and gray.

I won't make any promises
That I will feel the same next week.
I might even say I need my phone
Or my body will fall weak.
