The Crescent

The crescent you see at night among the starlight

Is MY shadow, thrown from my back by the sun,

Dancing there at the very edge of sight

Until the sun is dead and the lights of the sky are gone.

So when you look up on the blackness of space,

The void surrounding the world, despite you, draws

Forth your gaze unto my shadow in that cold, cold place.

But who can feel at home here on Earth, when staring at the stars?
