Cries of the Affluent Son

Trapped in constant darkness with no way out. No longer can I remember the face, the name, the birth of my existence. Lying on the floor bound by society unable to break away from the shackles of conformity, wealth, standards, and duty that come with that of a last name. Constantly being watched and judged by those who wear masks to shield their true endeavors. Forever afraid to make a step, in fear that my world will break from a load heavier than that of Atlas. If only I had hope, if only I had love, If only I was one of God’s chosen people. But alas I am not so lucky. Abandoned by the only woman who boar, believed, and encouraged me. The one who truly brought pure light within my life, but that light was distinguished by the big C. Banished from the kingdom by the father who beat, destroyed, and caused me to result in the measures of using a sharp paint brush to paint the canvas of my body with the dark red that runs down down my wrist. To get through the darkness I indulge in the liquids of intoxication and partake of substances that will numb the body and mind, but not the soul. It’s a temporary fix that makes life stop for a moment, and that moment for me is peaceful bliss. But these moments are no longer enough. This world has been suffocating me like a snake, lessening my breath day by day. I’m tired and I can’t go through this routine of a never ending storm. Its only one way One way to end all of this One way to escape from this prison, the darkness, the masked figures that float around like ghost, and it’s through the harness Let the harness be my savior, my refugee, my way out Wealthy Let the harness be the cure to this plague that society has infected me with since the day I was born Let the harness reunite me with the only person I ever loved Through the harness, I will be free
