Cross Country

I was never one

To think running was fun

But then Jimmy B

Introduced himself to me

And then I was walking

And talking with McLaughlin

When he said that we were gonna run the course that day

Now on the way I felt like I was gonna pass away

Until I saw Coach Volpe

He was running towards me

When he told me all that I could be

To never give up

Cause those things in life that matter the most

Never come as an easy lay-up

My legs were on fire

But I was filled with the desire

To always aspire

To be the best I could be

In this here cross country community

So when all you little people be coming around

Trying to push me to the ground

Just know that you ain’t never gonna be able to close a gap like me

Or have a rap like me

Cause I’m the only one who can spit this fire

While you all look on with desire

And try to aspire

To be like this here piece of live wire

But to be real

And maybe make some of you get the feels

These past four years

With all the blood, sweat, and tears,

I would not trade for the world

Even if the perfect life was handed to me all curled

up in a box

But let’s not be sad

We can only rejoice in the awesome times we had

So here’s to new frontiers

Where we can become engineers

Or financiers

Or become whomever we want to be

But I would just like to say

That on this very day

I know that I would never be…me

If I had never met…Jimmy B
