Crossing Paths
He walks down the street
Thinking about his dream
Where her touch was more
real than ever before.
She gets in the shower
Feeling the water fall on her face
Thinking of him.
He crosses the street
The droning of people
around him keep him
distracted from her.
She gets dressed
Puts her hair up in a mess
Just how he likes it.
He stops at a bakery
Seeing her favorite doughnut
He buys one with the petty change
in his pocket.
She goes out
To a Newspaper stand
The small print not favoring
Her poor eyesight.
He waits at a stop light
The waiting reminds him
of the butterflies in his stomach
That he can no longer stand.
She crosses the street
Looking at the ground
As if she’s afraid of looking
too happy.
He walks closer to the library
Where he intends to study
But it’s inevitable that
His mind thinks only of her.
She nears the library
Still looking down
Holding back that grin
That he loves so much.
They collide
Bags hit the ground and she falls fast
Yet he catches her smoothly and with grace.
He laughs. He makes a joke about sweeping her off her feet.
She jokes that it must be love.
They pick up their stuff.
They go about their normal day.
Later that day
She meets with her boyfriend
She tells him about
Her love for the stars.
Later that day
He meets with his friends
And details the most
Beautiful girl that he had
The honor of running into.
