The Crow
Just the eyes of a beast I cannot see
For the same darkness encompasses him, as encompasses me.
If a dream, be it a nightmare
For he sees the broken chandelier
Does he know? Can he?
He caws; but that caw cannot speak
Not in words I understand, like the eyes that flash again.
If he knows, they all know. Can this be the end?
This morning it was the begining,
but sun sets and darkness sets in, and darkness is winning.
If I could catch him I could end it. Could I blame a chandelier on a crow?
Easier than to mend it. No one else needs to know.
Just the eyes of a beast I cannot see
For the same darkness encompasses him as encompasses me.
