Cruelties of Society

Dear society,

We put on makeup for your pleasure

Makeup that covers our skars

Skars from the wars we fought

But these skars I've hiden shouldn't be covered

But instead praised and loved

For it is I who won the war

We cover our bruises

Bruises you created through those words

Such ugly words that come from those lips of yours

We cover our face and pretend to be somebody else

Somebody who is a stranger yet is more beautiful in your eyes

Your acceptance towards this stranger only angers me

For why can't the real me be beautiful too

You said makeup would make me happy

That it would increase my self-esteem

But instead it just covers the frown

Covers the tears I shed

For I would never be beautiful in your eyes

Love,

Nobody
