Crush
My body reacted to his sudden presence in the room.
With tense muscles and a dangerously increasing heart rate, I choke out a “hey” and plastered on tight smile.
He, however, took my awkward greeting and responding with a fluid head nod and a curve of his lips, sending my heart into summersaults.
He was like a magician, turning trash into gold.
I was like a book left open, and I could feel him reading my embarassment as he sat down next to me, completing the circle my friends and I were sitting in.
"Let's play a game," Someone suggested. "Truth or Dare."
My heart rate increased dangerously, and I began to nervously fiddle with my hair.
I had either forgotten to breath or couldn't, and tried consentrating on inhaling and exhaling.
A bottle was retrieved and spun. And spun. And spun.
The green glass was deciding it's fate, and after what felt like eternity, it landed on me.
My friend smiled mischievously.
"Truth," Her grin was getting bigger and bigger and it was starting to scare me.
"Or dare?"
It was a simple question.
Truth or dare?
My eyes scanned my fiends faces waiting anxiously.
Finally my eyes fell on him. I didn't want him to think I was afraid, even though I was.
Without giving it another thought I blurted out my answer. "Dare."
Her smile was now frightening.
"Kiss the cutest boy in the room." Everyone laughed as my face heated up.
Thoughts raced through my mind. I could either: lie and kiss another boy or: kiss Cole.
Adrenaline and hormones rushed through my veins. I turn to my left and look into his big, dilated eyes.
And for the first time since he's been there, I was calm.
My heart slowed and my mind was sure, and in one fluid motion, my lips met his.
