Cry for Help
Just one opportunity,
To make it right,
Hoping that in the future,
I don't cry at night,
Just one chance,
To change my fate,
A cavern to see the light out of,
A dream escape,
Just one tear,
To shed for closure,
And begin a new chapter in life,
Rid of emotional exposure,
One day I'll make it out,
And be the person I need to be,
To make it out of the inferno I live in,
Misery chose me,
One job may change this life,
And turn this dilemma around,
Liberating me of the shackles of pain,
A helpless soul screaming man down,
Give me the strength to continue,
Give me the chance to have this career,
I'll give you my heart splattered in ink,
Signed with salty tears,
Lend me the hand I've searched for endlessly,
I no longer see any light,
The daily struggles of a racial minority,
Who is desperately seeking to win this fight,
Helping others is my passion,
Giving more than enough for a stranger,
But the farther down I pursue my career,
I will be less exposed to danger,
Making it out of the roof that covers me,
Is a reality I want to live,
With all the joy and grace I have,
Helping those who generously give,
I want to set up my own practice,
And help souls who are in need,
For those who don't have emotional support,
Bruised-open hearts that constantly bleed,
Every day brings me closer,
To the dream job I want to have,
A licensed practitioner who does all he can,
Always stretching out a lending hand,
Maybe one day everyone will know,
That genuine help and hearts do exist,
I made myself a promise long ago,
And it went like this,
It's not about the money,
It has nothing to do with a degree,
No prestigious institution,
Trains you for compassion nor humility,
It's the greatest privilege in life,
For someone to pull back the curtain of fear,
And expose their heart to you,
I promise you'll be safe here.
