The Cry of the Homeless

Money please, I beg you, sir! Help is all I’m asking for. Every day, I see you here, With that nice suit and all your gear. And I am here all night, alone, Stuck in the cold, without a home. Will you still just pass me by? Not a bit of sorrow? Not a cry? Is there a person who cares in this world any longer? Give money to buy clothes, give me food; make me stronger. Even one penny is all I ask. One bit of care, a simple task. Give me help; I will not bite. Give me hope; I will not fight. Because we’re poorer, hungry, feeble, Doesn’t mean we’re lesser people. Beneath the sorrow, the grime, the shame, We have a heart; we have a name. We’re not so different, you and me; Just lend a hand and you will see. So give me money, I’m begging sir. Hope, care, and love’s all I’m asking for.
