The cub
I was not like other cubs,
I took time to grow.
I tried to rush but I saw the elders struggle and I retreated
I took a while to go out and hunt myself
when I tried, I came across poachers.
Everyday on the news,
statistics of cubs being poached grew,
particularly where my pride was.
Sometimes fellow cubs stabbed me in the back,
tried to trade me with the poachers.
Both lions and poachers abused me,
for I was too timid to put my foot down.
Until I saw lions from my pride rising up
I began to take a stand.
All the pain and humiliation fellow lions and poachers put me through
I used it as a way to pull through.
This cub, now tranforming into a majestic queen lioness has much to learn still
but that won't make me stand still.
This cub, no longer a cub, will guide other cubs
As a young lioness, my duty is protectiing the cubs,
forbidding anyone to abuse their innocence.
I'll take no nonesense when it comes to the cubs.
