Culture, content, and compassion

Guatemala City: at capacity with trash but full of living treasures

What a hard life they live while we take all for granted

inferno and ignition stewing under the heaps of trash

iPhones and cars wished for every Christmas

No roof, no home, no source of comfort

Blind flashes of anger at the petty, trivial actions of the family

Forever grateful for the little things in life

Isatiable need for material goods

Sticking together through everything, watching over each other

So close, yet so far, competing for everything and appreciating no good deed

Life changed me for the better

Building houses for the treasures of Guatemala City

Giving thanks to God for my family

Holding the Guatemalan child in my arms, wiping off the dirt

Grateful for the roof over my head, crying for those who don't

I am appreciative, in adoration, and aware
