Cupcakes
No time to think,
or act at that matter.
Hands full
a tray falling to the ground
out
of
my
hands.
And although there was no splatter,
of the cupcakes in the platter.
A mumble of “ごめんなさい” (gomen nasai)
I still apologized.
Yet no words in exchange
only angry movement
No glance in my direction.
It was not the end of the world.
それはケーキだった (sore ha keki da tsuta).
Feeling rejected.
Although it was I who offered to help
drive you around
carry your things.
Yet you gave no response
No help to ease my mind
Only a cold should.
What else did I have to do
To not feel like I was rejected by you.
