"Cure for Tears"

The people are cold in heart and feeling

So far as the sun stays down that evening

Only one mans the leader for all

He can only hope no one will fall

But only so far as their legs trail

The tears for their homes are felt from when they fell

Everyone’s step, everyone’s single step

Has to stomp loud with a will to live

Or else become cold at spirit with no give

The man wonders as he sees his tears are his

His alone with whiskey being the fix

Days go by with no recollection

Protecting his people from detection

On one cold day he wished he could only say

How proud he was of another

So far as the other had succumb to pain

He sees the sun rise above the plain

Only to realize the dust has the fame

He watches a man clad in dark attire

Looking like he’s on fire, from the heat in this sandy place

The dark one collapses after seeing the man

Seemingly relieved to find a helping hand

The people hear this dark ones tales

Of fighting for peace and drinking ale

That night the two sit by a fire

To share their pain and toast to whiskey

And fully realizing the real cure for tears

Is pain becoming  laughter for all to hear
