Curtain Call

I pick up the remote and once again I press play,

You dance through my memories like Broadway.

You and I were perfect but all good things must come to an end,

Maybe one day I will see you again.

They call you to the stage and you tell me what the doctors told you,

The news was probably the most difficult to construe.

You take your final bow and say goodbye,

I want to scream, I want to cry.

This is the end as I watch your curtain call,

That is when the tears begin to fall.

It took me forever to find you and now you are gone,

You're gone,

You're gone.

Gone?

Everyone assumes I mean it when I say that I'm alright,

The memories are like a bullet that I gotta bite.

It is so hard to act strong when my strength is growing faint,

I was monster but you taught me restraint.

You said you always wanted to be some big star,

Now in my dreams I hope you see that you are.

I want to find a way to hold you one more time,

The memories go from happy to sad at the turn of a dime.

I am glad that I was there to at least witness your curtain call,

I just wish it didn't end in a melancholy hospital hall.

It took me forever to find you and now you are gone,

You're gone,

You're gone.

Gone?
