Cut

She smiles whenever

we are together

She laughs

over the telephone

She walks with flowers on her head

and sings the words to every musical

she is loyal always to me

she has my back no matter what

we hang out

everyday

especially after the clock chimes 4

we will sit at a table drinking

tea and Starbucks

Which makes it harder that I didn't know

When she looks in the mirror

she doesn’t see the beauty I see

she only sees a glob

when I think she wants

to eat healthy

she really doesn’t want to eat at all

her smile hides pain

her laugh covers fear

when I thought she was just dancing in the rain

she was really looking for a way to hide her tears.

I call myself her best friend

but I didn't know this

How could I have not known

she cuts.

Omg this poem is so powerful. The sudden shift in tone is beautiful.
